Assignment 2
- Games in Gamemaster. Connect to Gamemaster. Click on the Games link. Click on Tic Tac Toe Information link. Notice that there is a description in English, a set of rules in GDL, a "stylesheet" used to render states and handle user inputs, and ownership information. Your goal in this exercise is to create a game of your own like this one.
- Create a Gamemaster account. Connect to Gamemaster and click on Developer. You will be challenged to sign in (unless you have already created an account and signed in). Click on Sign Up button and to create an account. Use your SUnet Id. You will receive an email with a passcode. Using your Id and passcode sign in to the developer site.
- Create a new game. Click the Games link of the Developer site. Click the Add Game link at the bottom of the table. Enter an identifier for your game. Click OK. Notice that your game is added to the list of games. Click on the pencil icon associated with your game. This will give you access to an information page similar to the Tic Tac Toe information page you saw above.
- Define your game. Copy the rulesheet from the Tic Tac Toe information page to the information page for your game. Copy the stylesheet as well. Press Save.
- Play your game. Go back to the Games page and press the standalone link next to your game name. This will allow you to play an instance of your game. It should be identical to the pore-defined Tic Tac Toe game.
- Modify the game.Modify the rulesheet for your game to support a Tic Tac Toe variation of your choosing, e.g. (a) one in which a player wins by making a row or column but no diagonal or (b) one in which a player wins by making an "ell" of 3 marks rather than 3 in a row or (c) one in which a player wins if his opponent makes a line of his marks. be creative. (Note that, in developing your game rules, you might want to use the Rule Checker, Style Checker, and/or Stepper linked on the Developer Resources page. Once you have your game working as you like, use Standalone to play your game and figure out what strategies work best.
- Optional. Repeat the preceding tasks for a game of your own devising. If you are familiar with HTML and Javascript, you might create an associated stylesheet as well.
